A Day In Your Own Shoes

“It’s your road, and yours alone.

Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.”

Do you allow yourself to feel it all?

Do you stop every now and then to remind yourself to open your heart and feel every single possible thing energetically dancing around it to the beat of life? Do you keep your heart firmly away from your sleeve?

Do you smile and laugh? Do you notice the smile lines settling in a little bit deeper around your eyes? Do you care? Do you hate the wrinkles on your face? Do you see beauty in others? Do you see beauty in yourself? Do you compliment those around you? Do you compliment yourself? Do you criticise yourself?

Do you breathe in the air and allow yourself to feel completely overwhelmed by the pure magic of it all?

Do you breathe in the air and feel completely overwhelmed by the horror of it all?

Do you ever feel overwhelmed?

Do you allow yourself to cry your bloody eyes out in complete despair? Do you blink away the tears and feel ashamed? Do you make mistakes? Do you own up to them? Do you carry on doing things that you don’t want to do? Are you stubborn? Do you learn from your mistakes? Do you blame others?

Do you say yes? Do you say no? Do you say yes when all you really want to say is no? Do you run away from your own life? Are you a decision maker? Are you full of uncertainty?

Are you happy? Are you unhappy? Are you in love? Do you even believe in love?

Are you positive? Are you negative? Do you pretend to be positive? Do you ask for help when you really need it? Do you suffer in silence? Do you sleep soundly? Do you barely sleep at all?

Do you acknowledge that it isn’t easy to do the things that you want to do? Do you do them anyway? Do you see your dreams as simply dreams? Do you put yourself down? Do you feel inferior to those around you? Do you judge those around you? Do you feel judged? Do you feel misunderstood? Do you feel loved?

Do you make time to relax? Do you see family and friends? Do you know what is important to you? Do you organise your time well? Do the weeks just pass you by? Are you a time-watcher? Are you a time-waster? Do you know what day it is? Do you know what time it is right now? Are you a count-downer? Do you refuse to let yourself be excited? Are you afraid of disappointment?

Do you ever ask yourself questions?

Today, you are going to walk a day in your own shoes. You will tackle hurdles and make steps (no matter how big or small) along your own path. It might be a good day, or perhaps a not so good day. If you do nothing else, just remember as the sun goes down this evening to whisper these two simple words to yourself, ‘thank you.’
